Israeli operation displaces 537 families in Hebron with heavy losses

Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin stated that an ongoing Israeli military operation has displaced 537 Palestinian families, totaling 3,361 individuals. The displacement occurs within a targeted area covering approximately 3.5 square kilometers, where about 615 families originally resided. Officials announced these figures during a news conference held at the Hebron governorate headquarters on Thursday.

The affected neighborhoods include al-Jaledeh, Ain Deir Baha and Farsh al-Hawa. Dudin noted that those forced to leave include children, pregnant women, older people and patients who now face significant difficulties accessing health care. The siege has severely restricted movement for residents remaining in the zones, limiting their access to basic services.

Educational disruption has impacted roughly 262,000 students across 589 schools in the governorate during the past week. Thousands of students in besieged or displaced communities remain unable to reach their classrooms. The governorate plans to establish support committees while ministerial teams will assess damage once access becomes possible.

Sufian al-Muhtaseb, head of the relief committee, detailed the demographics of the displaced population. This group includes 232 infants, 1,193 children aged two to seventeen, and 326 elderly persons. The committee has distributed food parcels, mattresses and hygiene supplies while coordinating with local and international human rights organizations for potential legal action.

Hebron Mayor Yousef al-Jaabari confirmed the municipality activated emergency plans immediately to assist affected families. Municipal staff are providing free electricity charging and working to maintain water supplies in targeted areas. Al-Jaabari added that documentation of events was sent to more than 600 municipalities worldwide to highlight the situation.

Adnan al-Natsheh from the Chamber of Commerce estimated direct economic losses between 10 million and 12 million shekels daily. He reported that thirteen businesses in Farsh al-Hawa suffered damage through vandalism or demolition. Restrictions on worker and goods movement threaten production chains across the Palestinian territories, affecting hundreds of commercial establishments.
