Palestinians in Belgium seek evacuation of relatives from Gaza

Palestinians living in Belgium have requested an urgent meeting with Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot. They seek the evacuation of relatives holding Belgian visas who remain stranded in Gaza. Heavy rains and strong winds have recently flooded their shelters in the enclave.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside Brussels-Midi railway station on October 10, 2026. They marched toward the Israeli Embassy to commemorate Palestinians who lost their lives in Gaza. The crowd also called for political measures against Israel during the protest in Brussels.

El Najjar stated that the cold weather is deadly for those trapped inside. He added that fear and uncertainty are as devastating as bullets for the families. His comments highlight the severe psychological toll on those waiting for rescue.

El Najjar noted that up to 1,800 visa holders reside in dangerous zones. These individuals possess Belgian travel documents but cannot leave the strip currently. They face significant risks due to their location in high-threat areas.

Israeli attacks have destroyed much of Gaza’s housing and infrastructure in recent conflicts. This destruction has left many Palestinians in temporary shelters without adequate protection. They are now vulnerable to worsening winter conditions and severe weather events.
